The NBA season tipped off this week…with plenty of fierce competition on the court. But players took the one-upmanship to another level with their Halloween outfits this weekend. Greg Tanner takes a look back on the last seven days…

What a week it’s been.

First we had the opening night drama of Miami going down to Boston. Our man Will Clapton was there. If you haven’t already, make sure you read his behind-the-scenes report about the media madness that went down in the locker room.

Once we got into the flow of things, there were plenty of highlights. Play-of-the-week, for me, was Hakim Warrick absolutely posterising Paul Millsap. The Suns have an Amar’e Stoudemire-sized hole at the moment…but Warrick looked like a STAT clone on this play.

Injury of the week, meanwhile, was suffered by Steph Curry – who found himself on the wrong end of an Eric Gordon crossover. Trying to stay in front of his Team USA partner, Curry stepped over Blake Griffin’s foot (he was setting a screen) and bust his ankle. That forced him to miss Sunday’s game against the Lakers…but word is he’ll be back for Wednesday’s clash with Memphis.

There was a lot of hype over the weekend when LeBron wore a vampire-style mouth-guard.

But it was NOTHING compared to how certain other NBA ballers were going on for Halloween. At the top of this article are the Boston Celtics – props to Rajon Rondo for going as Tiger Woods! Below is Shaq. The less said about this one the better, I think.

Speaking of horror stories, Allen Iverson officially signed for Besiktas in Turkey.

Domesically, there weren’t many surprises this week. The Tigers are still owning. The combination of Drew Sullivan and Tafari Toney seems to be unstoppable right now.

Meanwhile young UK baller Tayo Ogedengbe helped the Guildford Heat get one foot into the BBL Trophy final as he dropped 20 on the Leicester Riders.

And last but not least…the BBL finally returns to Sky tomorrow, as the Sheffield v Newcastle game airs on Sky Sports 4 at 5.30pm. Word is it was a cracker – so make sure you tune in.
