GB DUO JOIN EUROPEAN CAROUSEL

Great Britain internationals Flinder Boyd and Rob Yanders are all on the move within Europe after joining new clubs for the end-of-season push.

Boyd has signed for Greek giants AEK Athens after being bought out of his contract at BC Prievidza of Slovakia, where he averaged 10.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this season.

Yanders, who previously played for Glasgow Rocks, will link up with French N1 League side Challans where he is replacing former team-mate Germayne Forbes.

Yanders heads to France

31-year-old Yanders had been out of a job since leaving Glasgow last summer but has been brought in to fuel the club’s ambitions for promotion to Pro B.

He earned a slice of fame Stateside while awaiting a deal when he won $20,000 by making a half-court shot at an Oklahoma City Thunder game.

“He knows European basketball well from his time in the UK,” said Manu Body, Challons’ coach.

“He has the same profile as Germayne Forbes, who he’s played with Great Britain, and he’s versatile. He plays the two-guard but can also play point. He does everything and he’s a three-point threat.”

Forbes had been previously playing with Swiss club Nyon before being released last year.

All three are expected to feature in Chris Finch’s initial training camp roster for Great Britain’s Eurobasket build-up this summer.
