OLYMPIC SCHEDULE, PRICING CONFIRMED
- Updated: February 15, 2011
The men’s basketball final at the 2012 Olympics in London is set to be the centre piece of the closing day of the Games after the final schedule and prices were confirmed by organisers.
And the top ticket prices to see the showpiece finale at The 02 Arena on August 12 will cost £495 when applications open later this month with the cheapest seats priced at £95 for a tie that will tip off at 3pm following the bronze medal decider.
The women’s final will be held the previous evening at the same venue with tickets priced from £50-325.
The basketball tournament itself will begin on July 28 with women’s pool games, with the men’s competition beginning 24 hours later.
The preliminary round, which will have cheapest tickets of £20, will be held at the temporary 2012 Basketball Arena before the final eight men’s teams and last four women’s sides scrap out at the 19,000-capacity 02 Arena.
Great Britain will learn on March 13 whether its teams will earn an automatic place in the Olympics.
The final game-by-game schedule will not be confirmed until next summer when FIBA holds its Additional Qualifying Round. So far, only the United States men and women have booked their spots after their respective triumphs at last year’s world championships.
