HATTERS EXTEND WOMEN’S TITLE STREAK
- Updated: March 27, 2011
Sheffield Hatters sealed their 17th EBL Women's Division One title with an 81-67 victory at Nottingham Wildcats on Saturday.
Led by 26 points from Stephanie Gandy, a strong first period did the damage for Vanessa Ellis' team as they built on a 47-29 half-time lead to clinch the league and Cup double.
It was also a fifth straight championship for the Hatters who stamped their authority on the EBL the following day as Barking Abbey Leopards were hammered 95-55 in Sheffield.
Edinburgh at the treble
Edinburgh Kings secured a domestic treble by lifting the Scottish Cup with a 76-49 win over St. Mirren.
Having already secured the league and play-off crowns, the capital side cruised to the final trophy of the season.
Sister club, Edinburgh Kool Kats, beat Glasgow Rocks 58-51 in the women’s final to complete their own clean sweep of silverware.
