HEAT GET EVEN, LEVEL EAST FINALS
- Updated: May 19, 2011
LeBron James and the Miami Heat have levelled the Eastern Conference Finals at 1-1, after defeating the Chicago Bulls 85-75.James had 29 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the away win, while superstar teammate Dwyane Wade added 24 points and nine rebounds.
34, 15 and 61 would be good numbers if it was points from Rose, Deng and the bench. But, unfortunately, it was the Bulls’ shooting percentages from the field, 3pt line and the FT line.
Derrick Rose lead Chicago with 21 points. Team GB star Luol Deng was the only other Bull to make double figures with 13 – including a half-court buzzer beater.
The game was tied at 73-73 with 7:16 left when James took over, scoring nine of the Heat’s last 12 points. The other points came from Wade at the free-throw line. The Bulls went 1-for-11 from the field down the stretch.
After the game, James said: “If you don’t like a defensive game, then you wouldn’t like this one.”
The two teams now travel to Miami for Game 3 on Sunday.
