Dwayne Wade led the way for Miami last night, as the Heat took a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals with an 88-86 away win against the Dallas Mavericks.
Wade had 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Dallas power forward Dirk Nowitzki had an impressive 34 points and 11 rebounds. However the German missed a shot in the final seconds that would have taken the game to overtime.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra credited power forward Udonis Haslem’s defence on Nowitzki’s final shot: “That’s a makeable shot, but ‘UD’ did a great job of keeping his chest in front of him and forcing him into a fadeaway. Nowitzki is a tough player. That shot hung up in the air about as long as it was in between Game 2 and Game 3.”

Dallas trailed for much of the game and Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said: “We were digging out of holes all night. … It’s very difficult playing from behind all the time.”

The two teams meet again in Dallas on Tuesday for Game 4 of the best-of-seven series.
