FRENCH STUNNED AS CLARK PROPELS GB
- Updated: July 13, 2011
Great Britain’s women have all but qualified for the quarter-finals of the European Under-20 Championships after a sensational win over France on Tuesday.
Led by 16 points and seven rebounds from Ella Clark, GB produced a 6-0 run to wrap up a 62-50 victory against the defending champions.
“This was an excellent performance tonight against a very athletic and talented French team,” said head coach Damian Jennings.
“We are still hungry for a back-to-back set of performances, so we are looking forward to playing Holland (in Wednesday).”
Britain never trailed after a 21-2 run in the first half took them 27-22 ahead at half-time.
And with a 43-34 cushion headed into the fourth quarter, GB coasted away.
