LEICESTER BUILD IN HOLMES, PLYMOUTH CHASE?

Leicester Riders have re-signed American centre Frank Holmes for next season.

The 27-year-old arrived mid-way through last season after starting the campaign in Slovakia, averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds per game. Previously, he had a stint in the BBL with Milton Keynes Lions.

“Frank is only a relatively young player and so I think he can develop his game, but he also has good BBL experience now, and that, with the continuity aspect, was important,” said Riders coach Rob Paternostro.

“Frank also made it clear right from the time he arrived he was keen to stay with our programme, and that was also important to me. I believe he will do very good things for us next season.”

Raiders chase the point

Plymouth Raiders are chasing the signature of rookie point guard Taylor Witt for the new season, according to reports in the USA.

Witt has just graduated from St. Cloud State University, where he played along side Cheshire forward Matt Schneck.

And Witt, who has also had approaches from the Netherlands, claims that the Jets star has also been targeted by the Devon club.

“It’s funny because we got offers from the same team. I’m not sure exactly where Matt’s going to end up, but I think he’s leaning more toward re-signing with Cheshire,” Witt said.

“Matt’s been huge for me in this whole process since he’s already been through it. Every time I have a question for him, I’ll call.”

Cheshire director Peter Hawkins remains confident Schneck will return to the Northgate.

“We’re talking to him and I believe he will be with the Jets next year,” he said.
