ROCKETS AIM FOR BBL LAUNCH
- Updated: January 27, 2012
EBL outfit Reading Rockets have applied to join the British Basketball League for next season.
The Berkshire club join a waiting list that also includes Manchester Giants and London Leopards, who have previously indicated their wish to enter the top flight.
League officials have confirmed that the Rockets would need to upgrade their present Rivermead home and increase the capacity to at least 1200 spectators to apply with the BBL’s current regulations.
“We have submitted the initial application which has been accepted,†club chairman Gary Johnson told the Reading Post.
“Now we have to prepare our full application within the next two weeks.â€
A decision on all three applications is expected to be taken in June.
