TUNISIA HAND GB LOSS AS WOES DEEPEN
- Updated: July 21, 2012
Great Britain’s build-up to the Olympics sunk to a new low on Saturday as Chris Finch’s side were beaten 73-69 by Games outsiders Tunisia in a friendly in Lille.
With a number of players out of action, GB’s troubles were compounded when Dan Clark picked up a knee injury during the game.
But a lethargic display left Britain with a ninth loss in 11 warm-up games for London, with only one last opportunity – against Belgium on Sunday in Antwerp – to turn things around.
With Luol Deng given a game off, and Joel Freeland rested as a precaution, the portents were not good for GB.
And the African champions took full advantage despite a game-high 21 points from Pops Mensah-Bonsu.
Elsewhere, in a friendly in Strasbourg, France came from behind to inflict a 78-74 loss on Brazil. The pair will have a re-match in the first round in London.
