Leicester Riders have rung the changes despite their fine start to the season by ditching American guard Derrick Roland.

The 26-year-old, dropped out from the starting line-up in favour of a fully-fit Tyler Bernardini, was averaging only 10 points per game in his first season in the BBL.

““It was a difficult decision to release Derrick, but after taking a close look at our team we are looking for something different,“ head coach Rob Paternostro said.

“From day one Derrick was a model professional who worked hard and played unselfishly, but we believe that we needed to improve our team in certain areas and that’s why we made the move.”

It is understood the Riders have already lined up a replacement.

Surrey United have signed Lithuanian forward Donatas Visockis, released recently by Worcester. It is expected that the strugglers will also formally free Trevor Setty, BBL sources told MVP.
