Great Britain women will take on reigning champions Spain as part of their build-up to EuroBasket 2015.

With their competitive campaign tipping off in Szombathley against Russia on June 11, it has been confirmed that Peter Buckle’s squad will take part in warm-up tournaments in Lyon, against France, Slovakia and Serbia (14-16 May) and Bilbao, against the Spanish, plus Canada and Poland (28-30 May).

Buckle is set to name an initial 20-strong squad in the next few weeks with 12 to survive the cuts and go to Hungary, with their training camp to be held at Worcester for the second successive year, starting on May 2.

“We are well in advance with our organisation for this year and once again, we look forward to using the University of Worcester Arena as our home base before EuroBasket Women,” said National Teams Director, Warwick Cann.

“We have planned well for what we most need, while I am delighted that we have a schedule which includes some of the world’s best teams in terms of preparation games. Our team staff are in also now in place and working hard behind the scenes to get good results.”

It means disappointment for the fans, however, with no senior GB side expected to play on home soil in the summer of 2015, with the men thought unlikely to even hold a home friendly.
