HASSAN IN AS RAIDERS SWITCH

Plymouth Raiders have signed ex-Leicester Riders forward Rashad Hassan for the rest of the season.

The 29 year old American, who also had a campaign with London Lions, replaces Javis Howard, who has been released.

Hassan started the season with five games in Luxembourg with Betrange following an off-season spell in the Australian SEABL where he notched 18.1  points and 7.5 rebounds a game.

We have been steadily developing as a team, but it has been very evident that we have been struggling from the power forward position,” Raiders’ head coach, Paul James said.

“Rashad becoming available and subsequently signing for us can only be seen as a positive thing for the Raiders moving forward.

“He has played in the BBL with Leicester Riders and London Lions and proved to be one of the best power forwards in the league. Hopefully he can put up the kind of numbers he had with those teams, here with the Raiders.”

Hassan is set for his debut in next Sunday’s BBL trip to Glasgow Rocks.

“I feel rejuvenated and ready to perform in Britain’s Ocean City,” he said. ” I’m looking forward to learning from Coach Paul James and teaming up with the guys.

“I’m thankful for this opportunity. Winning is everything and the time is now.”

In a statement, Raiders said: “The club sincerely thanks Javis for all his hard work, determination, and professionalism, and everyone at the club wishes him all the very best for the future.”
