Manchester Giants have signed American centre Breaon Brady.

The 23-year-old, who featured at the University of Houston Cougars, was a high school team mate of fellow Giants newcomer Lyle Hexom.

He initially signed for KK Gostivar in Macedonia in 2019-20, but departed for personal reasons.

Head Coach Danny Byrne said: “Breaon brings all of the physicality and aggression that we look for in our big men, but alongside that he has a very accomplished skillset in the post and great footwork. He has a soft touch as a lefty, and good vision to pass out of the post, making him a hard cover for opposition bigs.

“He was one of the best defensive players on one of the best defensive teams in the country in college, and that’s really important for us as we look to correct past issues at that end of the floor.

“We initially scouted and pursued Breaon last season, so I’m very happy that we’ve finally managed to bring him to Manchester.”

Elsewhere, Great Britain guard Jules Dang-Akodo has re-signed for London Lions.

Dang-Akodo was a stalwart last season, starting 13 of the 14 league games played, averaging seven points and three boards per game, setting the tone for the Lions’ pace of play.
A member of GB’s 2017 Eurobasket squad, the young Brit, who just turned 24 this summer, has also played at Under 18 and Under 20 for GB.
“I really enjoyed coaching Jules,” said Lions head coach Vince Macaulay. “He is eager to learn and gives great effort all the time. I believe he has enjoyed being next to Justin Robinson and I’ll be challenging him to become as good as the league MVP in his decision making and knowledge of the floor.”

The Lions, however, have been forced to abandon their pursuit of Ukrainian-Israeli power forward Anton Shoutvin after he was deemed ineligible for a work visa under Home Office guidelines.

“We have to move on,” Macaulay confirmed.

Sheffield Sharks have re-signed American centre Bennett Koch.
