FLYERS COOK UP BAKER

Bristol Flyers have signed experienced American forward Justin Baker for the rest of the season.

He joins the Flyers following seven successful years of playing professionally overseas, with spells in Denmark, Israel, Finland, Sweden, Greece, Cyprus, Romania and Qatar.

Previously, the veteran played alongside Flyers guard Josh Wilcher in Australia, helping Townsville Heat lift the 2017 QBL State Championship title,

“For me this season, I really wanted to find somewhere stable, especially with the pandemic going on, so it’s exactly what I was looking for,” he said.

“Coach Kapoulas wants me to come in and bring my experience to the team. The Flyers are a good team in the league and we want to make sure we are constantly trending upwards.

“I know some players who have played in the BBL and I’ve heard great things about the league, so I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added: “With the recent injuries, it was important for us to build more depth in our frontcourt and Justin was the right fit to our situation.

“He has experience of playing high level basketball across the world and is a team player that can contribute in a variety of ways.

“He’s been in similar situations coming in later in the season and he certainly knows how to help a team, which is valuable as we enter a series of important home games in the weeks to come.”
