Great Britain will not be going to this summer’s Women’s EuroBasket.

The semi-finalists of the 2019 edition were made to pay a heavy price for their loss on Thursday to Belarus as their rivals guaranteed their spot – and top place in the the group – with a 80-49 demolition of Poland on Saturday.

That left Chema Buceta’s side hoping that they would end up as one of the five best-placed runners-up with a points differential of -1.

But it was not to be with results elsewhere leaving GB as the lowest ranked of that group with an exit that also eliminates them from the pathway towards the 2022 FIBA World Cup in Australia as a consequence.

Belarus, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden qualified as group winners, while Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Montenegro and Turkey as runners-up.

Final Group F standings: 1. Belarus (3-1, Q), 2. Great Britain (2-2), 3. Poland (1-3)

The FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2021 draw will be held on March 8, 2021 in Valencia, with the teams to be drawn into four groups of four teams each.
