JONES, THE NEW HEAD REF

Recently-retired ref Haydn Jones is to replace Martin Ford in running BBL officiating.

It puts Jones, who has presided over countless major finals, in charge of British Basketball League and WBBL referees and match officials after the league put the post up for recruitment earlier this summer.

Ford, who did the previous role part-time, will remain one of the most prominent Commissioners for FIBA.

Another former international and BBL ref, Neil Wilkinson, was recently re-appointed as the British Basketball Federation’s officiating national instructor.
