Drew Sullivan of Leicester Riders has been named as British basketball’s Player of the Year in the annual Basketball Journalists Association awards.
Leicester Riders and Newcastle Eagles will meet in the BBL play-off final for the second year in a row after the British Basketball League’s two giants eased through to next Sunday’s season climax at Wembley.
Leicester Riders’ Rob Paternostro has been named as BBL Coach of the Year after leading the club to its first-ever British Basketball League title, as well as the Cup, with Drew Sullivan named as MVP.
Surrey Heat moved into the semi-finals of the BBL play-offs with a 76-70 victory over Worcester Wolves on Sunday, winning the tie 154-151 on aggregate.
0-35. Zero wins, 35 defeats. The stats don’t lie. The Mersey Tigers are, officially, the worst team in British Basketball League history. But success and failure aren’t always measured by the numbers.
