Turkey’s zone defense drove France crazy on Sunday night, as the hosts advanced to the quarter-finals of the World Championships.

With Omer Onan, Kerem Tunceri, Ender Arslan and Sinan Guler at the top of zone, Les Bleus simply couldn’t cope. They committed 11 first-half turnovers, from which the Turks scored 13 points.

The French couldn’t get anything going on the inside either, as Turkey’s massive front court smothered virtually every shot.

On the offensive end, Hedo Turkoglu led the way with 20 points whilst Guler added 17.

The game finished 95-77.

The Turks now face Slovenia in the last eight, who blew away Australia 87-58 in the first game of the day.

Jaka Lakovic went for a 19, Primoz Brezec had 12 and Goran Dragic chipped in with 10, as Slovenia handed the Aussies their largest ever defeat at a World Championship against an opponent not named the USA or the USSR.
