Plymouth Raiders playmaker Evaldas Zabas believes his team have turned a corner in their fight to move away from the BBL basement.

Following the Devon outfit’s drubbing at Cheshire just over a week ago, the Lithuanian racked up 22 points against former club Worthing as the Raiders drubbed the Thunder by 35 points at the Pavilions last weekend.

Not surprisingly the point guard feels it is a result and a performance that has potentially given their season a shot in the arm at just at the right time.

And despite Plymouth’s lowly league position and a tough debut campaign for rookie coach Gavin Love, he insists there is no despondency.

“This game was very important to us because we know that if we want to reach the play-offs this season then we have to beat teams that are around us in the table,” Zabas claimed.

“We spent the whole of last week working on our defence and it really showed in the win since everyone stepped it up and we came out with a great performance.”

“This win means a lot right now and spirits are high. We have another two games before the Christmas break so we just need to push on.”
