Newcastle Eagles booked their place in the last four of the BBL play-offs but had to come from behind to defeat Guildford Heat 88-83 on Saturday night to grab a 192-180 aggregate victory.

Backcourt duo Reggie Jackson and Drew Lasker came up trumps with a combined 48 points for the visitors as the team from Tyneside became the first club to punch their ticket for the last four.

Having taken a seven point lead from the quarter-final first leg, they watched that advantage evaporate within the first three minutes and really had to dig deep against a plucky Heat side who sensed an upset.

Just when it looked like they might get it, the Eagles dug themselves out of a hole and showed they haven't given up hope of grabbing their last opportunity of silverware by storming back.

Plymouth Raiders will face Cheshire on Sunday in the second leg from their tie with everything to play for after an 84-84 stalemate in Devon.

Trailing by as many as 16 points and in serious danger of losing any chance of progressing, Gavin Love’s men came roaring back, much to the delight of the home fans.

A super last quarter and stunning last two minutes in particular gave them a share of the spoils and a real shot in the second leg at Northgate on Sunday evening.

Chez Marks torched his former team for 32 points while Jeremy Bell was in scintillating form for Jets with a game high 36 points.

Mersey Tigers have one eye on a BBL treble and they tipped off their bid to complete that mission with a hard fought and exciting 89-86 first leg success at Leicester Riders.

The league champions had the upper hand for the most part and led by as many as 9 points in the last quarter before a late rally by Riders ensured the tie now hangs deliciously in the balance ahead of the return at Manchester’s Amaechi Centre.

JR Blount had a terrific double-double of 20 points and 11 assists for Riders.
