Great Britain Under-20 women’s coach Damian Jennings has named an initial 22-strong squad for July’s European Championships.

The group, which will open camp in Leigh next month, will be preparing to face Slovakia, Latvia and Spain in the side’s first-ever appearance in the A Division, held in Serbia.

Eleven of the side are based in the United States with the rest in the UK with the exception of Canadian-based forward Gemma Bullard.

The team will also have warm-up friendlies against France, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

“The preparation programme will be intense as we balance training and practice games against Division A standard teams,” said Jennings.

“This year’s competition will rely upon good preparation once again and I believe we are well prepared and have a strong camp in place to do well in the European Championship later in the year.”
