WATTS TO LIGHT UP WORCESTER AGAIN
- Updated: June 10, 2011
England international David Watts has agreed a new deal with Worcester Wolves after coach Paul James was confirmed in charge.
James was forced to re-apply for his position following a re-organisation at the University of Worcester but has now added the title of its Director of Basketball to his duties.
And despite missing the BBL play-offs, he has moved to bring back Watts who averaged 11 points per game in an impressive debut campaign in the league.
“David took the step up from the national leagues last year and easily proved that he belongs at this level,†said James.
“There were some matches last season where his three-point shooting was simply stunning. He is working hard to improve other aspects of his game, and will be a great asset to the team that I am building.”
James also hinted that another former player could be about to return to the Wolves.
“I’ve had a couple of conversations with someone who was a standout player with the organisation a couple of years or so ago. If a deal can be finalised, then I’m sure the fans will enjoy seeing this guy again.â€
Two sets of trials are being held at the University of Worcester’s St John’s campus for the club’s Under 16 and 18 teams on June 16 and 30 between 7pm and 9pm.
“David worked his way up through junior programmes, listening to advice on how he could develop, and he is now representing his country,†James added.
“Any boys out there who are interested in taking the first step in trying to emulate Tin-Tin’s achievements should come down to the University next week.”
