PATERNOSTRO CONTENT TO SIT TIGHT
- Updated: June 9, 2011
Leicester Riders coach Rob Paternostro admits he’ll play a waiting game before putting together the pieces in his summer signing puzzle.
The American will have to replace both Ryan Zamroz, who has signed for a team in Sweden, and JR Blount who has embarked on a career in the coaching ranks.
However Paternostro is matching the example of most of his BBL peers and sitting tight to see the state of the European market – and the budgets available for next term.
“I’m in contact with all of the guys from last season, apart from JR obviously,†he said. All of them we’re interested in. It’s just about making it work in terms of budgets.

“My feeling is that the amount of players out there is going up. And the BBL is starting to command more respect from agents as a landing spot for talented players.
“When I first took this job, it was hard to convince them. Now it’s more on their path.â€
Meanwhile Paternostro will lace up his boots once again for Tony Windless’ testimonial on June 25 at the John Sanford Centre.
The American veteran, who is calling it quits after a long career, is set to be honoured by the presence of stars of the past and present.
“There’s going to be a lot of great guys playing and that’s something Tony deserves,†Paternostro added.
