Great Britain star Robert Archibald has signed for Spanish League side Zaragoza, just weeks after leaving their rivals Malaga.

The Paisley-born forward, who remains the only Scot to play in the NBA, will spearhead GB’s challenge in next month’s EuroBasket finals in Lithuania.

But Zaragoza admitted the 30-year-old was one of their prime targets to challenge in Europe’s strongest league.

“He’s an player with a lot of experience in Spain and elsewhere,” said general manager Jose Luis Abos. “He’s a physically strong player who played with a lot of intensity in defence as well as in attack.

“In attack, he’s good on up high as well as being able to cause problems on the low post. On his part, be brings a lot of aggression on defence among inside players and he defends well up high and on the break.

“His experience in the league can help our squad which is still quite young.”
