HEAT TURN TO LASKER TO IGNITE SEASON
- Updated: November 17, 2011
Guildford Heat have signed American point guard Drew Lasker, hoping the 29-year-old veteran can rescue their season.
Creon Raftopoulos’ side cut American guard Brandon Shingles last week, the latest casualty in their winless start to the British Basketball League season. Now Lasker, the former Plymouth and Newcastle standout, will come in as a fresh talisman, just weeks after the Eagles pulled out of bringing him back to Tyneside for a second spell.
“When I first came to the UK in 2005, the Guildford Heat were known as one of the top teams in the country,” said Lasker.
“I am very familiar with the Heat’s history and what the club stands for. The club has been making some good changes recently and I’m really looking forward to joining and doing my bit to help turn things around.”
Meanwhile, the Heat will Heat meet Brixton Topcats in a friendly on Sunday at the Surrey Sports Park (3pm).
