GB MARK PAGE’S 50TH WITH KOREAN WIN
- Updated: June 15, 2012
Great Britain’s women defeated South Korea 113-86 in their first game of the Ankara Invitational Tournament in Turkey on Friday.
Jo Leedham had a game-high 29 points, her best tally of the summer so far, as Tom Maher’s side ignored foul trouble to build on a first quarter surge.
Up 56-37 at half-time, GB maintained their push and with Julie Page adding 14 points and 9 rebounds on her 50th international appearance, the Koreans had no response.
Jeneya Wade-Fray, thought to have narrowly escaped the final round of squad cuts, had 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Britain face Argentina in their second game of the event on Saturday.
“We were a little disappointed defensively,”said Leedham. “We’ve got to crack down and tighten up, but overall it was very, very good and we’re looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully getting another win.”
