BLAKE GRIFFIN OUT OF OLYMPIC GAMES
- Updated: July 13, 2012
Blake Griffin will miss the Olympic Games after aggravating an injury ahead of the USA’s opening friendly of the summer.
The Los Angeles Clippers forward has sustained a meniscus tear in his left knee and will undergo surgery, sidelining him for two months.
Number one Draft pick Anthony Davis was called up as a replacement ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Dominican Republic, won by the United States 113-59.
“The reality is, that injury took place at the end of the season,” USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said.
“And he had an option to get scoped and he opted not to get scoped. And so, I guess he aggravated it. Whether he’s able to play now remains to be seen.”
