FREELAND DROPPED DOWN TO D-LEAGUE
- Updated: December 14, 2012
GB forward Joel Freeland is to join the Idaho Stampede, in the NBA Development League, for games against the Santa Cruz Warriors.
The 6′ 11″ forward from Surrey hasn’t played the last two games for the Portland Trail Blazers, whom he joined this season, having been drafted by the club in 2006.
This season, Freeland is averaging 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in 10.2 minutes, and has appeared in 12 games for the Blazers.
Recently Joel spoke of his frustrations at the slow start to his NBA career, telling The Oregonian “I’ve been frustrated with myself, because I hold high expectations for myself and I know what I’ve done in the past and what I’m capable of doing. I kind of expected to continue what I was doing in Spain.”
Fellow Portland rookie Victor Claver has also been assigned to the Stampede.
