Standard Life Game On 2012, Great Britain v France, July 15 2012.Great Britain’s EuroBasket Women hopes have been boosted by the arrival of Jo Leedham, days before new coach Damian Jennings finalises his roster for France.

Leedham had passed on training camp to pursue a contract with the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun but was waived ahead of the season and was not acquired by another team.

The Bourges guard now has a week to pick up Jennings’ system before the team travel to Trelaze for the start of their European campaign.

However the playcaller has no fear that his star will fit right in.

“We are pleased to have her as a person and as a basketball talent as we complete our final preparation phase leading into France,” Jennings said.

“It was great to see Jo do so well during training camp in Connecticut and I have no doubt she will be even more determined to play in the WNBA – I’m sure you will see her improving every year in pursuit of that goal.”

“She will have a very natural transition back into the GB team given her commitment over the last five years and with the members of the group whom she has played with since 2008.”

Jennings has however lost the services of experienced lead assistant Ken Shields who was central in his planning for this summer.

Former Australia assistant Peter Buckle will step in to join Vanessa Ellis on the bench staff with Shields, who had a hip replacement earlier this year, ruled out.
