england_basketball_logo_568The Chief Executive of England Basketball, Keith Mair, is to step down after ten and a half years in the position.

Under the New Zealander, EB was salvaged from the financial mess left behind by his predecessors at the English Basketball Association with a strong emphasis on improving administration.

However there had been several calls in recent years for the former Tall Blacks coach to quit his role, particularly in the wake of a reduction in funding from Sport England.

It is claimed, multiple sources told MVP, that the agency was keen on a change of regime in order to improve the sport’s case for much-needed support.

In a statement, England Basketball’s chairman Jan Hagen said: “England Basketball is immensely grateful for the contributions Keith has made to the sport.”

Mair will officially leave at the end of August.
