Great Britain v LithuaniaGreat Britain coach Joe Prunty has cut down his squad ahead of Thursday’s friendly with Finland in Helsinki.

Leicester Riders’ swingman Jamell Anderson has been released from the initial 17-man party while Glasgow Rocks forward Gareth Murray has also remained in the UK on standby.

“Jamell has had an excellent summer with the Standard Life GB senior team,” said GB coach Joe Prunty.

“He has come a long way from the GB Futures training session to his work now with the senior squad. The entire staff is proud of his work ethic and we are all confident that he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Dan Clark has also not travelled with the team. British Basketball team medical staff have spent the past week attempting to nurse the Londoner back to fitness but the Zaragoza forward’s ankle injury continues to make him a major doubt for EuroBasket with the increasing likelihood,  team sources claim, that he will withdraw in the coming days.

Young forward Ali Fraser has been retained along with Myles Hesson, even though both were DNPs in Sunday’s official friendly against Puerto Rico.

GB squad for Finland: Achara, Adegboye, Boateng, Hesson, Jackman, Johnson, Larkai, Lawrence, Marcotullio, Murray, Potter, Robinson, Sullivan, van Oostrum.

Meanwhile Britain’s first round opponents in Slovenia, France, have finalised their 12-man roster by cutting  Leo Westermann, Evan Fournier and Kim Tille.

NBA stars Tony Parker and Nicholas Batum headline their line-up as the EuroBasket favourites prepare for the championships.
