BBL LOGO 568Three became two at the top of the BBL Championship as Sheffield recorded an impressive win over Worcester while Leicester kept pace to join the Sharks on a 7-1 record.

Atiba Lyons’ men were dominant in the top of the table clash with an 84-63 success to extend Wolves’ losing streak to three games in all competitions. The home side had four starters in double-figures led by BJ Holmes’ 18 points as they used a pivotal 15-0 run in the third to storm clear. Will Creekmore offered resistance with his customary double-double effort of 25 points and 14 rebounds but it was back-to-back BBL TV losses for the visitors.

However, they were to return to winning ways in Scotland after defeating Glasgow 92-77. Andreas Schreiber had his best game in a Wolves vest, joining Creekmore as the game’s top scorer with a 21 point haul. GB’s Gareth Murray also matched that effort but was unable to prevent the Rocks falling to a 5th league loss.

Leicester ensured they returned to the top with a victory over Cheshire although they were made to work hard for the two points. Rashad Hassan had another strong game for the hosts with 20 & 11 in the 82-71 success. The Nix were in action 24 hours later and injuries to Gerald Robinson and Dominique Coleman left them with 5 available players. Despite a valiant effort and another big double-double from Victor Moses, Cheshire fell short, losing 86-76 at home to the Lions.

It capped another double-winning weekend for London, as they brushed off last week’s heavy cup defeat, to move into equal fourth with the two victories. The capital-side were boosted by strong performances off the bench by Nick Freer in both games while Adrien Sturt dropped 29 on Birmingham in the 94-69 win on Saturday.

The Knights slipped to an 0-7 record when Durham inflicted an emphatic 115-69 defeat on them on Sunday. Paul Elderkin had a season-high 26 points to lead six players in double-figures with Devin Ginty providing 10 assists to compliment his 18 points. Surrey also suffered their seventh league defeat, at the hands of Newcastle, who romped to a 115-71 win with Scott Martin and Malik Cooke combining for 49 points. United also bowed out of the Cup as Plymouth recorded a 91-57 success to progress to the last four.

Raiders were unable to keep their winning momentum going in the league as they surrendered a 16pt half-time lead to Manchester as the Giants stormed back to win 107-99. James Jones dished out an incredible 17 assists, David Watts didn’t miss in his 20 point showing and David Aliu top scored with a 25 point haul in just their second victory of the season.
