KNICKS-BUCKS TABLED FOR LONDON
- Updated: May 29, 2014
It has been confirmed the New York Knicks will play a NBA regular season game against the Milwaukee Bucks at London’s The O2 on January 15, 2015.
The game is one of two regular-season games the NBA will stage internationally as part of the 2014-15 season, which also includes a game in Mexico City on November 12 between the Houston Rockets and the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of NBA Global Games Mexico City 2014.
It will be the second time in three years the Knicks have travelled to the UK, having beaten the Detroit Pistons 102-87 in January 2013.
It is understood the Bucks, who had the worst record in the NBA this season, will give up a home game to accept the overseas trip. Their only previous overseas trip was in 2008 when they took on Golden State in two pre-season clashes in China.
“While London and Mexico City each have their own unique culture, they both have rich sports traditions and share a great passion for the NBA,†said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
“These regular-season games will bring the excitement and incredible competition of our league to more fans in Europe and Latin America.â€
Tickets for the game in London will go on sale in October 2014.
