The Glasgow Rocks have confirmed 6’6” English guard forward Tayo Ogedengbe for the 2014-15 season.

Ogedengbe is no stranger to the BBL and will be coming into the Rocks squad with a wealth of pro basketball experience. He started his career playing for the London Capitals before making the move to the Guildford Heat where he flourished under the guidance of Heat coach Creon Raftopoulos. During his final season at the Heat (2011-12) he averaged just over 16 points and four and a half rebounds per game. He followed that with an impressive season at the London Lions (2012-13) where he averaged 16.6 points and almost five rebounds per game.

Head Coach Sterling Davis has had Ogendengbe on his radar for some time now and is pleased that he has agreed to come to Glasgow for the 2014-15 season.

“I have known Tayo for a good while and have followed his progress since his entrance into the league. He has developed very quickly into one of the premier British players in a short space of time. He brings so many positives to the team at both ends of the floor and at multiple positions which bodes well for what we want to achieve here.”

After his meteoric rise in the BBL, Ogendengbe opted for a change in scenery and decided to play for French NM2 side Calais Basket Cheminots last season. His familiarity with the BBL and his recent experience in France cemented Coach Davis’ decision to bring him to Glasgow.

“He got the chance to test the waters in Europe last season which I think really improved his tactical game and forced him to play within a system. He wants to win and that’s what I look for in a player.”

Rocks fans will be able to get a glimpse of the new look Rocks squad on the 14th September when they face a touring USA Select team at the Emirates Arena. It will be the first real hit out for the Rocks as they get their pre-season underway. Tickets are available at
