USK Praha made home advantage count in lifting the Euroleague Women’s title for the first time.

The Czech outfit completed their shock run by defeating UMMC Ekaterinburg 72-68 with Kia Vaughn taking the MVP award after registering 18 points and 12 rebounds in the final.

The Final Four hosts, paced by 24 points from Danielle Robinson, led from midway through the opening period and were as much as 44-32 in front in the third.

But they had to resist a late rally from the Russians before Jana Vesela sealed victory from the foul line.

“(Kia) is the most important player for us,” declared Praha coach Natalia Hejkova.

“She plays her very best basketball in crucial moments and is so mentally strong.

“It was the same last season and this time she has done it again for us. She is absolute gold.”

Candance Parker had 27 points and 14 rebounds for Ekat, who failed to land the third European championship they had coveted.

Dynamo Kursk beat Fenerbahce 67-58 in the third place play-off.
