GAYLE BLOWS INTO GB SQUAD

Rising prospect Georgia Gayle has been included in Great Britain’s squad of 13 for Saturday’s pivotal EuroBasket Women qualifier against Italy in Lucca.
With GB almost certainly needing victory to reach next summer’s finals, coach Chema Buceta has retained seven players from the London 2012 Olympic team with Temi Fagbenle, who has returned from the USA, a probable inclusion in the team.
Britain, who will visit Albania in their final qualifier next week, currently sit second in their group behind the Italians but level on points with Montenegro.
Mollie Campbell,Kyla Nelson and Gabby Nikitinaite were left out following a mini-camp in Manchester before the team flew out from Liverpool on Thursday morning.
“We are taking a squad which we believe can deliver two wins out of two and covers all possibilities,” Buceta said. “I believe in these players.”
