SIN BIN A PART OF ALL STARS

A five-point line is among the extras added for September 24’s All Star Basketball event in London.

As MVP first revealed, the top eight teams from this season’s BBL will take part in the Barry Hearn-backed tournament at The 02 but the rule book has been ripped up.

There will be 12-minute games with running clocks and a 20-second shot clock while teams can choose a 2-minute powerplay in which double points are scored.

There will also be an area of mid-court from which scores are worth five points while a sin bin, which will leave sides shorthanded, will come when a player reaches three fouls.

Hearn has claimed it will add entertainment to the venture but others like ex-NBA forward John Amaechi have claimed the format devalues the game at the expense of chasing a profit.
