Four NCAA Division 1 colleges are coming to the UK to play in a four-team tournament later this year.

Manhattan College, Holy Cross, La Salle University and Towson University will feature in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Classic at Belfast’s SSE Arena on December 1-2.

The concept is the brainchild of former Belfast Star and Ireland guard Gareth Maguire and his Sport Changes Life charity which has forged links over the past decade with various US schools to deliver youth development programmes with basketball as its focus.

“We are really excited to have the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic here in my home city,” Maguire said. “It will bring great energy to Belfast as we welcome hundreds of American student athletes, their supporters, and College alumni following their teams to watch them play in this historic tournament in Belfast.

“Belfast City Council has been a key partner with our core work in our community outreach programme eHOOPS, Schools Honour Roll programme, and working with transient youth across Belfast. This event is another step in providing a life changing experience for our young people.”

Tickets are now on sale here.
