Gavin Love has been confirmed as the new head coach of Plymouth Raiders.
After declaring last month that he would remain at Luxembourg League side Contern despite speculation of a second spell at the BBL outfit, Love confirmed on Wednesday he had resigned from the role in favour of a return to the UK.
A takeover of the Raiders was completed earlier this week, and their first order of business has been to turn to the club’s appearance record-holder, whose first coaching stint at the Pavilions ended in 2013 when he was abruptly dismissed on the eve of the new season following internal disagreements at the club.
He then made the move to Copenhagen Wolfpack a year later before the onward trip to Contern but now comes home to Devon.
“I’m really delighted to be returning to Plymouth – to the club where my career began,” he said.
“This is such an exciting time for the Raiders and I’m very much looking forward to being part of it.
“Coaching in European basketball over the past few years has allowed me to develop as a coach and I can’t wait to bring those skills to the BBL, with a new group of players and new owners, but the same great fan base.”
