FAGBENLE GETS WNBA FINALS SHOT

Temi Fagbenle will cut her own small slice of British basketball history on Sunday.

The Great Britain centre will become the first player from these shores to feature in the WNBA Finals when her Minnesota Lynx host the Los Angeles Sparks in Game 1 of the best-of-five title series.

It is a repeat of the 2016 edition, won by LA.

The 25-year-old Londoner has only featured in two games in the playoffs so far, including the semi-final clincher against Washington seven days ago.

But in a veteran group which won championships in 2011, 2013 and 2015, and features veterans such as Maya Moore, Sylvia Fowles, Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen, it has been a golden opportunity for the Olympian-turned-rookie pro to watch and learn.

“I’m just going to do me, which is what I’ve always done throughout my entire career,” she told ESPN. “Just play my best, still get better, develop my skills and just reach for the stars.”
