Andreas Kapoulas will be the head coach of England’s men at next year’s Commonwealth Games.
The Bristol Flyers coach, who also helmed GB Under-20’s promotion run last summer, will be assisted by Alan Keane and James Vear.
“It’s a great time for our sport after a successful summer for the national team programme and we have an exciting opportunity to continue this momentum with the Commonwealth Games in Australia,” he said.
“We have plenty of work ahead of us to ensure we make the most of our preparations. I look forward to working with the players and staff towards a successful campaign.â€
Kapoulas will face the challenge of recruiting a squad for Gold Coast with BBL teams likely to resist call-ups during the final leg of the domestic season and with few, if any, international leagues likely to allow their players to participate during what is set to be a three-week absence.
Scotland have already confirmed Tony Garbelotto in charge, helped by favourable fixture schedule negotiated in advance between Glasgow Rocks and the BBL.
England took bronze at the 2006 Commonwealths in Melbourne, the last time basketball was part of the Games.
