AUSTRIA GAIN EARLY POINTS

Austria drew first blood in the race to qualify for EuroBasket 2021 ahead of Great Britain by edging Cyprus 72-69.

With GB’s men not opening up the pre-qualification round until later in the year, the Austrians needed overtime to see off the Cypriots, who stepped into the group following Armenia’s withdrawal.

Britain host Austria on November 29 with the game likely to be held in Manchester.
