LEICESTER EDGE DURHAM FOR HAT TRICK

Leicester Riders defended their WBBL Trophy with a 70-66 win over Durham Palatinates

Sara Hinriksdottir, the MVP of the final, hit a game-high 23 points as the reigning champions held on in a game of ebbs and flows.

Up 38-26 after a 12-0 run in the second, Leicester turned defence into score with Kate Oliver a totem in the middle.

Durham, losers here 12 months earlier, used a 16-5 burst in the third to retort and briefly lead.

But with the game tied at 66-66, Hinriksdottir converted 2/2 and Jen Ashton added to the cushion as their rivals fell short.
