Great Britain stayed on track to qualify for EuroBasket Women 2021 with a 77-49 win over Poland.

Exiled into the bubble in Istanbul, Chema Buceta’s side made themselves at home once a problematic opening quarter had been shrugged off, moving top of the group with a 2-1 record and within one more victory of the finals.

Chantelle Handy, who hit five three-pointers in a 12-minute spell en route to a game-high 19 points, keyed a 17-3 run in the second period that gave GB control.

It was physical. Unforgivingly so. The Poles, who had gone 13-6 in front in the early exchanges, held their own in the pain until eventually GB’s dominance was affirmed.

Up 37-28 at half-time, the advantage never dropped below seven.

The focus shifted inside with WNBAer Kristine Anigwe adding 15 points and Temi Fagbenle scoring eight and adding nine rebounds.

And a 12-3 start to the fourth cemented the security of Buceta’s players as Poland bowed to the habitual British defence.

GB are due to travel to face Belarus in their final qualifier on February 4 2021.
