Temi Fagbenle insists being trapped in a bubble will help Great Britain against Poland (6pm).

Chema Buceta’s side have effectively been in quarantine for the last five days in Istanbul ahead of a FIBA Women’s EuroBasket qualifier which is being played on neutral territory due to Covid.

However it has been an opportunity, Fagbenle says, to embed a crop of new faces with Evelyn Adebayo, Hannah Robb and Sam Roscoe all set to earn first caps and Renee Busch returning after a prolonged absence.

And with GB out to move clear in the group by replicating the dominance that saw them take a 75-63 victory in Poland exactly 12 months ago, the exclusive focus on basketball has been a boon.

“Our time in the bubble has been very productive so far,” said Fagbenle. “We’re thankful to have this time to get acquainted with each other as we have a lot of new faces.

“The bubble has been a bit strange, especially as we can’t leave the hotel, but on the flip side, this helps to limit distractions and stay focused on the task at hand. We have our work cut out for us with the upcoming game against Poland and we’re doing all we can to come all guns blazing.“

Poland will be without head coach Maros Kovacik who tested positive for coronavirus during the team’s training camp in Warsaw.
