Sunday’s BBL Cup final between Newcastle and London is getting a last-minute venue switch.
MVP can reveal that Sunday’s showpiece – to be televised by Sky Sports – will be moved to Leicester’s Morningside Arena.
It followed talks between the league and officials at the University of Worcester Arena following heavy flooding in the vicinity of the venue which had been deemed to put it at risk.
It also sees a restoration of the original venue for the league game between the Riders and Glasgow Rocks, which had been previously been switched to become the warm-up game for Eagles-Lions when the WBBL Cup final between Leicester and Nottingham was postponed.
“Following the exceptionally heavy rainfall over the past week and the expected regional flooding, Worcestershire County Council have closed a number of major roads in Worcester. The closures are likely to affect access to the University of Worcester Arena,” confirmed a BBL statement.
Streamed coverage of the BBL Cup final will also be available at mvp247.com.
