Sheffield Sharks have added American shooting guard Jordan Ratinho.
The 22-year-old, who has a Portuguese passport, began the season with two appearances for German regional league side Herford but became available after the team’s season was cancelled.
He graduated from the University of San Francisco last May where he averaged 8.9 points per game.
“It was unfortunate what happened in Germany but I’m excited to continue my pro career in Sheffield,” he said. “The first week of practice has been great, the guys and coaching staff have been helping me fit in nicely. There’s a lot of talent here, I can’t wait to start playing games.â€
Head Coach Atiba Lyons, who will hand Ratinho his debut against Plymouth on Sunday, believes it gives him extra options behind Nick Lewis.
“We had a spot to fill and he will really add some more needed depth to our roster,” he said. “So far he’s integrated well in training, has a great shooting touch. We look forward to seeing him on the court in upcoming games.â€
