Geno Crandall could be back for the close of Leicester Riders’ title run.

The American guard, potentially the favourite for this season’s British Basketball League MVP award, has been out for two weeks since sustaining a hand injury.

There had been fears that the former Gonzaga standout would miss the remainder of the campaign as the BBL leaders look to close out a championship.

But Riders head coach Rob Paternostro has signalled that the prognosis is positive for a return.

“We hope so,” he said. “We’re optimistic that he will be back at some point. We had to go through a bunch of tests to find out where he is at.

“So we got some good news. He’s still a little bit away.

“Knowing Geno, he’s desperate to get back on the floor. He’s as tough as they come. So we’ll welcome him back when he’s ready.”
