London Lions have been forced to call off their opening second round tie in the FIBA Europe Cup.
Three positive Covid cases – all of the new Omnicron variant – within the BBL side’s camp have placed several players into isolation.
It means London have not travelled to Russia to face Avtodor Saratov on Wednesday with the game re-arranged for Wednesday, January 19.
“We are sad to announce that our game on Wednesday in FIBA Europe cup with BC Avtodor Saratov will not go ahead due to Covid disruptions,” a statement said.
“Whilst this is disheartening, we are committed to ensuring the safety of our team, fans, and staff, and this will remain our utmost priority.
“This is especially disappointing given that the whole club was looking forward to another exciting European game which we have enjoyed immensely this year. We are currently awaiting confirmation from FIBA as to the next steps for this game.”
At the start of 2021, Lions were forced out of a centralised opening round in Europe Cup due to a Covid outbreak that left the side short-handed for the BBL Cup final.
Their two BBL Championships fixtures this coming weekend, against Bristol and Sheffield, will now also be postponed.
